As South Africans gear up for the massive Mandela 100 Global Citizen festival taking place this December, Sho Madjozi has revealed something to get fans even more excited than they already are. The Juice reports that the "Huku" hitmaker will take to the Global Citizen stage to perform a new song with Chris Martin.
"Imagine getting an email from Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay," she told The Juice about the moment she was reached out to. "So I just thought it was his PA. He's like: 'Sho Madjozi, I really love you. I really want you to be part of this festival and it's a secret for now'."
She was later asked to meet Martin at FNB Stadium to film the promo video for the festival. It's likely where discussion about a collaboration began. "I think with me people always expect high energy, people always expect me to bring some aspects of my culture. But I think we're going to amplify it to the max, because now we're talking about the production quality of global superstars. And Chris Martin and I made a song together, so we'll be performing that."
Coldplay's collaborations over the years have been extremely limited. Rihanna, Tove Lo and The Chainsmokers are the only real collaborations they've done. Jay Z added a verse to a Coldplay song after the fact and Chris Martin has been featured on a song with Kanye West. That's quite an exclusive club for Sho Madjozi to join.
