#Spanking New: Yung Tyran -For The Night

SA-Based ZImbabwean rapper, Yung Tyran is this week’s Spanking New Artist on MTV Base, and his brand new music video “For The Night” is in the spotlight. Yung Tyran has actually been on the music radar for a few years. His very first ventures into African hip hop were in 2009 but he’s grown plenty from the youngster who tried to start a hip hop group with his friends. After releasing a flurry of tracks that have caught various people’s attention over the years, the local wordsmith released “For The Night” and accompanied it with a crisp video, shot in the streets of Johannesburg. We got to speak to Yung Tyran about the work that went into the music video. Every scene in the visuals felt like a boozy night out and the rapper explained that this is the effect he was going for: “The title of the song gives it away .It’s a nostalgic jam that will have anybody reminiscing about their highest moments during a night out so the visuals had give the viewers some sort commentary into what happens when ever Tyran and his Amigos link up” We wanted to find out who worked on this video and brought the concept to life: “We Worked with A creative director called SFresh and his motion picture company. I wanted to give back to the people of Johannesburg my appreciation of the city”The song is a trap banger, but Tyran wants to be recognised as more than just another hip hop artist:“I want to be recognized as an all round artist. My album is going to tell a bigger story as to what type of an artist I am. Yeah my most two singles say Trap. But Tyran is an all round HipHop and rap artist”We spoke to his manager, (Find him on Twitter, @Christian_Tabo) who believes Tyran has the potential to work with some of the best in the game: “I am forward to Tyran working with the likes of Gemini Major and Tweezy.
