African DJs are winning right now. We recently reported to you how some of South Africa’s biggest DJs had the time of their lives at the Ultra Miami Music Festival, and while that was happening, one of Nigeria’s hottest, DJ Cuppy, was making her way to the SXSW festival which took place in Austin Texas.
SXSW (which stands for “South By South West Festival”) is a multiday music convention featuring conferences, seminars and concerts to Southern music lovers. This year’s festival featured the likes of A$AP Ferg, Anderson .PAAK, 2Chainz and DJ Khaled.
Nigerian Music has been on the rise for years and this year DJ Cuppy was invited to join a panel of industry experts who discussed how to take their sound global. The conference took place on Day 4 of the festival and DJ Cuppy shared her insights alongside Ademola Ogundele, the founder of NotJustOk.com, the online platform behind the rise of Nigerian music. Cuppy also performed for the crowd in Austin.
Just when you thought she had had enough fun; DJ Cuppy shared a picture of herself chilling in Business Class. But she wasn’t headed home - she’s off to London for the next adventure. #CuppyOnAMission indeed!

Bye Bye Houston, Hello London! ✈️💥 #CuppyOnAMission
