It’s already been an incredible SXSW as expected but in case you missed it here are some of the dopest takeaways:
Michelle Obama, Queen Latifah, Sophia Bush, Missy Elliott and Diane Warren
Michelle Obama hosted a keynote at SXSW Music where she spoke about her Let Girls Learn campaign which sets out to educate 62 million girls who aren’t at school. Missy and Diane have recently worked on an anthem for the initiative called, “This is for My Girls”. They were also in attendance at the keynote.
Singer-songwriter Kehlani hit the SXSW stage for a 20-minute set as part of YouTube’s #YouTubeMusic show. She commanded the stage like she owned it with songs like “The Way,” “FWU,” “Cloud 19” and “You Should Be Here”. “Pretty” was also on the setlist and Kehlani brought out Ambré to join her for her part of the song.
Metro Boomin’ headlines at the Fader Fort
Getting the crowds hyped with Kanye West’s “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1,” Metro Boomin’ kicked off his headline set at the Fader Fort. DJ Esco and Lil Uzi were also on hand to join his set playing tracks that they have worked on with Boomin’. Everyone was expecting Future to come out on to the stage but he was nowhere to be seen.
Erykah Badu helps celebrate 50 years of Vans
In notorious Erykah style, the audience endured a long wait before Miss Badu appeared at the Mohawk House of Vans. She closed off the sneaker company’s set for their 50th anniversary celebration at SXSW performing a ton of her hits.
