Johannesburg, 10 August 2012: MTV brings the side-splitting, in-your-face comedy of Kevin Hart to the biggest night in music as he hosts the "2012 MTV Video Music Awards." The actor and comedian, known for his sharp tongue and self-deprecating humor, will leave no stone unturned as he 'roasts' the world's biggest stars in music and entertainment.

Additionally, quintessential megastar and five-time MTV Video Music Award winner, P!nk is confirmed to hit the VMA stage for the third time in what promises to be yet another memorable performance to debut a new song from her upcoming sixth studio album.

The "2012 MTV Video Music Awards" will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday 6 September and will premiere in Africa on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) on Saturday 8 September @ 17.30 CAT.

In keeping with tradition, the "MTV Video Music Awards" will feature extraordinary performances from today's biggest artists in music, including previously announced VMA performers Alicia Keys and One Direction, and appearances from leading actors and actresses in television and film.

"This is huge, wait this is bigger than huge, this is bigger than what's bigger than huge! I'm overwhelmed with excitement..." – Kevin Hart

"I think what makes the VMA's such a powerful night is the unpredictability of it all and the versatility of artists – all from different genres and it's kind of the most rock and roll show out there." – P!nk

With comedic wit unlike any other, Kevin Hart shot to superstardom when he starred in the 2012 comedy box office smash "Think Like a Man", an adaptation of the Steve Harvey New York Times best seller, "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man." The film grossed over 90 million at the domestic box office, catapulting Kevin Hart into the realm of mega star. In 2011, Hart released his critically acclaimed stand-up feature film, "Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain", in which he was compared to Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. The film also cultivated sayings "You gon' learn today", and "Say it with your chest", which have become favourites amongst Hart's four million plus Twitter followers. The Laugh at My Pain DVD hit double platinum in February 2012, after being on sale for a month. Hart is currently on tour with his new show "Let Me Explain", which will take him to 90 cities in the US, and internationally to cities in Europe and Africa. Check livenation.com for more info.
