Wizkid delivered his Sounds From The Other Side mixtape last Friday to critical acclaim. The 40-minute, 10-track project brings together all the things we love about Wizkid's infectious sound: Afrobeat, dancehall, EDM, house and R&B.
The secret weapon behind any musical project is its producers and Wizkid sourced the finest for his mixtape. Major Lazer, DJ Mustard and our own DJ Maphorisa are among those on the producers list.
For Come Closer with Drake, African Bad Gyal featuring Chris Brown, Sexy, and Sweet Love, Wiz turned to SARZ. The Nigerian producer and musician, has previously worked with Wizkid before as well as Naeto C, Banky W, Skales, Shank, Reminisce, Goldie Harvey, eLDee, Wande Coal and YQ. His Naija influence on the SFTOS record is unmistakeable.
New York producer, Dre Skull put his touch on Daddy Yo. He was a natural fit for this record thanks to his expertise in hip-hop, dancehall, and EDM.
Major Lazer features on Naughty Ride and is of course producer for the track as well. Major Lazer is a trifecta production collabo featuring Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire which can only guarantee a hit.
The Ty Dolla $ign-assisted Dirty Wine features production by DJ Mustard. The Los Angeles-based producer is known for his work on hip hop and R&B hits and is frequent collaborator with YG. In case you're not sure who he is, he's the guy you hear saying, "Mustard on the beat, h*e," on all of your favourite tracks.
Bucie has had a good run lately of featuring on international records. Her latest featuring act is on Wizkid's All for Love. For that collaboration, he worked with a producer from home, DJ Maphorisa. Kwesta, Uhuru, Drake, Black Coffee and many more have had their hits worked on by the pioneering DJ.
Gbese features Trey Songz and was worked on by Del'B. The Nigerian producer and sound engineer is best known for his work on Kcee's hit single Limpopo. Along with Legendury Beatz and Spellz, he rounds up the list of Nigerian producers on Wizkid's SFTOS.
