Kanye West faces another lawsuit

4 April 2012
AllHipHop.com reports that Kanye West is facing yet another claim of illegal sampling just weeks after settling a lawsuit with singer Syl Johnson. According to Rolling Stone, Robert Poindexter claims that West used an un-cleared sample of the 1972 hit "Trying Girls Out" on his remix of "Girls Girls Girls," featured on the mixtape Freshman Adjustment 2. Although the mixtape came out in 2006, Poindexter says he did not become aware of the sample until years after. Poindexter is suing West for 500-thousand dollars and believes that Yeezy “willfully infringed the copyright for private and financial gain by selling and distributing an untold amount of physical and digital copies of the illegal version to the general public on Internet downloads and through the mail."
