LL Cool J took a four year musical hiatus to try his hand at acting but found he couldn’t stay away from his first love of hip-hop any longer. According to MTV News, LL is working on his 13th studio album, his first since 2008’s Exit 13. James says this album will be authentic hip-hop for the fans that have been there since his 1985 debut, Radio. The veteran MC plans on going against the grain. The album will not be about him “cashing in.” There won’t be tons of collaborations or features. LL feels today’s hip-hop is catered to 14 to 17-year-olds and while he says there’s nothing wrong with that, he wants to target a more mature audience.
