They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, however, it’d be safe to say that pop-legend Madonna was not aiming to give current pop queen Lady Gaga any props when she covered the mother monster’s hit, “Born this Way.” The original Queen of Pop began her world tour over the weekend and in a dress-rehearsal for a show in Tel Aviv, Israel, Madonna was filmed performing her song, “Express Yourself.” The performance took a different direction half-way through the song though, when Gaga’s “Born this Way” began to play and Madonna performed the song as if there was no change. This, of course, can be taken as a reference to a comment the 53-year-old songstress made about Gaga’s song, claiming it was “reductive” and “influenced” by her early work. Gaga herself, at the moment, is also on a tour of the Middle East.
