shekhinah is glad she didn’t win idols sa

2 February 2016
South African singer Shekhinah Donnell has proven to be a breath of fresh air in South African music recently. The songbird first caught our attention on South Africa’s local singing talent show show SA Idols where she managed to reach the Top 8 as a talented teenager who was, at the time, still in high school.
For the talented vocalist, 2015 proved to be her real breakout year and we watched as she dropped massive singles like “Let You Know” and the summer smash hit “Back to the Beach” – the latter song becoming big enough earn her a Metro FM Awards nomination. This path to success might not have seemed obvious when she fell short on Idols but she recently revealed that this was a blessing in disguise.
“The situation forced me to focus on my tertiary education. I’m now in my final year at AFDA and hopefully next year I will pursue a music career full- time,”
Although there are no plans for an album on the horizon, Shekhinah has definitely caught the attention of the country to the point where some people feel like she can even make an international impact in the future!
