Stars aim to help East Africa food crisis

10 August 2011
Lady Gaga, Eminem, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Shakira, Kanye West and 150 other stars are combining their social media might to raise awareness about the growing food crisis in East Africa. They'll each take to Twitter and Facebook pages today with the goal of raising awareness and funds for the nearly 10-million people facing starvation in Somalia and across East Africa.

One-million children in Somalia alone face starvation if help is not delivered now. Save the Children and other aid agencies have launched a huge emergency response across the region and are on the ground delivering life-saving aid.

A short film has been created by award-winning director Kevin MacDonald using Bob Marley’s 1973 song "High Tide or Low Time." It can be downloaded via iTunes, on ImGonnaBeYourFriend.org or viewed on the Bob Marley Facebook page.
