tsar leo prepares to storm africa as malawian hip hop comes of age

26 August 2016
Young Malawian hip hop/RnB artist Tsar Leo has revealed that he is overwhelmed by the support and inquiries he is getting from other surrounding countries. This comes just a week after releasing his most anticipated music video for his hit single, “The Other Side”.
Speaking to MTVBase.com this morning, the soft-spoken Malawian rapper could not hide his joy as he celebrated how his new video has made him the talk of the town.
“We got over 1000 views within the first hour of release on YouTube and I believe that’s a first for a country with the highest data rates in Africa.”
He added: “The incredible response has gassed me and my team to push the video to be play listed on all Africa’s top entertainment channels. People from all corners of Africa are sending their thumbs up. The response is way up.”
The audio was co-produced by BFB and Eril. BFB is another versatile Malawian rapper/producer who recently collaborated with South African Hip hop legend HHP on a single titled “Pasopa”. “The Other Side” features guest vocals by Zack.
Often referred to as “Malawi’s Drake” by his peers for his ability to easily switch between rapping and singing, Tsar Leo is one of the few promising Malawian artists Africa should watch out for. He is scheduled to release an EP titled Godly Position on 17th December.
