Young VJ wannabes from all over the country get to show their paces in the 2012 MTV Base VJ Search, the gripping new reality series and talent showwhich kicks off on MTV Base(DStv Channel 322) and e.tv.
Episode 1 of the hot and happening new series will follow MTV VJ Sizwe Dhlomo (winner of the first previous MTV Base VJ Search in 2005) as he introduces us to some of the young hopefuls from the Cape Town audition earlier in July.
With the national callbacks of the nationwide talent search within their grasp, the Cape Town candidates are prepared to pull out all the stops to make it through to the next stage. With only ten slots to fill from the Cape Town heat, MTV Base producers will have their work cut out to pick the strongest candidates who can show the skill and passion to make it through to the next stage.
The ultimate winner in the MTV Base VJ Search will win a life-changing job and become MTV Base's first new South African VJ since 2006 – hosting shows for two of Africa's top broadcasters - MTV Base and e.tv.
With so much at stake, the candidates are given just a few minutes in front of the MTV production team to find out if they have a "yes" and a green light to the next round or a "no", a red stamp and a melancholy bus ride home!
Among the eager contestants making an impassioned bid for fame and fortune are model Roxanne Kali (22), product designer Graeme Cuthberths (25), Humanities student and campus radio DJ Sherlin Barends (22) and student Tsidiso Motsoahae (20). Hip hop star JR also makes an appearance at the auditions to hang out with fans and to lend his support to the auditionees.
